Wikieup is a small town located between Las Vegas and Phoenix Arizona on Highway 93 is a stop worth making. Named for a Mohave Indian structure that was in the mold of a tepee, originally located close to the existing Post Office.
At approximately 2000 foot in elevation, the small community is at a convergence of three different deserts. There are the Sonoran, Mohave, and the Great Basin regions. This rare occurrence gives Wikieup a broad range of animal and plant life from the majestic Sahuaro, Mesquite, Palo Verde to the unique Joshua and Creosote. The fragrant cedar, pinon forest, with thousands of cacti, sage and other plant life share this rare biome.
Unlike some deserts, this biome is rich in its abundance. Mountain lion, bobcats, javelina, fox, wild horses, burros, badgers, raccoons, and coatimundi are only a few of the inhabitants seen.
Cardinals, finches, orioles, cactus wren, owls, hummingbirds, quail, and infinite more birdlife is abundant in this desert oasis.
Gila monsters, snakes, and countless varieties of lizard species call this place home.
This is only a small number of inhabitants of this amazing confluence. This area is also abundant in mineral deposits, making it truly a rock hounding paradise.
With this backdrop, David and Brenda built the Hidden Oasis RV Park and Cool Water Cafe. The RV sites are laid out keeping much of the natural fauna as possible and then planting drought tolerant trees to make shade semi-private sites. Each site has 20, 30, and 50 amp services. The potable water is soft and delicious tasting as well. The water is naturally soft giving it healthy benefits for skin, hair, and valuable minerals for your overall physical health.
The park is dissected with walking paths, bridges, gardens, ponds and fountains. It’s surrounded by BLM (Bureau of Land Management) open range with side by side, bike and walking access, the desert is open for your exploration.
A small chapel surrounded by gardens and fountains is always available for your spiritual and mental peace. Also available are showers and laundry facilities for your convenience.
Brenda’s Cool Water Cafe is a combination gift store, deli, and bakery. Brenda and Tanya’s homemade pies, tamales, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods are homemade from scratch are referred to as “Arizona’s Best” by locals.
For overnight guests you can rent a variety of different units. Many of our residents have decided to live here on a weekly or monthly basis. Quite a few guests become permanent residents and enjoy the benefits of the soft water, warm, and dry climate.
It’s truly a great experience to sit outside the cafe in the shaded garden listening to the melodic sounds of the many varieties of birds in harmony with the waterfalls’ soothing song while eating the many delicious foods Brenda and Tanya offer.
